What is wrong with my kid!!! - Parent-2-Parent & Reflux in Children

Ever since Aiden got sick he has not kept hardly ANYTHING down. Its been about 5 days now and even tho he's feeling better he's up walking around, talking, playing acting normal he's still puking. He's only kept down 12 ounces today. Tonight i gave him 4 ounces and waited 5 hours before i fed him again and when i fed him i gave him 5 ounces and he puked it up immediately. Then 20 minutes later i gave him 2 ounces of water and he puked that up immediately too. His puke is smelling rancid...its not smelling like pediasure which is should since its only been in his stomach for 30 seconds. I managed to catch some in a bowl and it was mixed in with a ton of mucus and he got his prevacid today so i don't know what is wrong. Also even though i hadn't fed him for 5 hours when i plugged in his extension formula came up in it and nothing should have came up in it so his food is just not digesting properly or something. So anyways i bought some more Pedialyte and am going to give him that tomorrow all day with NO pediasure and if he pukes that up i guess I'm calling his GI since his Ped is the most worthless crap on the earth. I just don't know if this is all from him having a stomach virus or if this is something newly related to reflux or something. I just don't want him to get dehydrated.

Poor kiddo! Aidan's motility just stalls completely when he is sick - congestion, stomach bug - whatever. Things just don't move through like they normally do. We just plan to cut way back on his feeds and or mix formula with pedialyte. Sometimes, we run just pedialyte. He may not need as much as you think to just stay hydrated, but hopefully your doc will have good ideas on how much, etc., tomorrow. Hugs! Hope he is on the mend soon.

The tummy bugs can hit our refluxers hard.....I hope he makes the turn VERY soon.

I'm sorry to hear he's having a tough time getting over the stomach virus. It seems like a lot of times kids who already have GI problems have a harder time recovering than other kids. Have you talked to his ped or his GI? Sometimes reintroducing slower, more dilute feeds can help.

Jamie, I don't know anything about reflux or motility, but what if you gave him smaller amounts more often... like maybe a half to 1 oz every hr??? I know with my kids small amounts frequently sometimes gets them over the hurdle of a tummy bug. It's like giving small sips every 10-15 min...

Hope he starts keeping stuff down soon. I know when C was really sick earlier this year I was really anxious 'cause he was vomitting so much and not getting enough in... I had to force feed him a popsicle, which normally I wouldn't have to do.
