Parent-2-Parent/Reflux in Children’s Code of Conduct

Posting:

You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, profane, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law. You remain solely responsible for the content of your post and you agree that Parent-2-Parent/Reflux in Children cannot and will not be held legally accountable for any post made by you, or on your behalf.

The opinions and experiences of the members of any forum are not given or implied as medical advice, but rather personal observation and/or experience. This forum is designed to allow parents to come together to share information which may be beneficial to others. Members are reminded that any changes in therapies or medicines should always be referred to your consulting doctor first. Members are not qualified medical doctors unless clearly stated and authenticated. The information provided on this site is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between a parent/patient/site-visitor and his or her existing physician.

Courtesy:

Please treat other users with respect & dignity and do not use P2P to threaten, harass, stalk, defame or abuse others. We ask that you do not use language that is racist, sexist or otherwise discriminatory or inflammatory.

You may not, in any way, bait, insult, flame or troll users and/or staff members. People may not be insulted simply because their opinion differs from your own. Flaming includes posting with a clear intent to provoke anger, name calling, insulting others, attacking their parenting, incendiary posts or slandering another person in any way. Any public attacks or derogatory comments directed to a specific individual or group of individuals will be considered flaming. If you have a dispute with an individual or group that MUST be resolved, please take it to private messages, if you are unable to resolve your dispute in this manner, take it to the Administration by emailing help@parent-2-parent.com. All flames are subject to editing or removal and the poster in question will be warned. Please treat each other with respect.

At no time will it be acceptable to contact individuals with the sole purpose of slandering this site or the Administrators and/or Community Hosts. Do not abuse the Private Messaging feature, or this feature will be removed.

If you disagree with something another visitor has posted, don't respond in anger. Take time to cool off before you talk back in a way that may result in further aggravating the situation which could result in suspension of user privileges or being placed as a “moderated user.”

Appropriate posting Etiquette – Support forums are support forums, please do not use a persons request for prayers, or support, as a reason to be critical of them, or offer unwanted advice. If the person wants advice they will ask for it. If a member DOES ask for advice, please stay on topic, and answer the question, if you feel a need to go off topic, please start a new post, to do so. If you have asked for advice, be prepared to hear things you might not agree with, if you are not prepared to get the advice, of many members that are as different as night and day, then do not request the advice. Do not post obscenities, obscene links, or anything you would not want your child reading over your shoulder. Other person’s requests for prayers or support shall not leave this message board, except by the person posting them. Do not post another person’s personal information, on another message board, or email said information to anyone.

Debating – Debating is allowed in the appropriate forums, however, it is important to note that P2Pis primarily a support forum, not a debate forum. While we value the ability to discuss issues in an intelligent way, support and debate do not always mix, and should a debate get out of hand, we will close and/or remove the post, to preserve the unique support atmosphere we have. If you enter a thread where venting and/or hot topics are being debated you enter there at your own risk, and agree to abide by the terms we have set forth here. Anyone who cannot agree to those terms should not post on those threads. Prepare for heated debates, and the possibility of things turning personal, which while prohibited does happen, when people are debating topics that are near and dear to their heart. However let’s not take debates personal, or get personal when debating. Debate the issues not the character of the person you are debating with.

The posting of obscene material is not allowed. (I.e. pornography, violent and disturbing images and/or writings.)

Spam:

Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this forum.

Any advertisements may be removed at the discretion of the moderating team.

Any user found mass-advertising their own site may be banned.

Note: Linking to your site in your signature is ok as long as it is not accompanied by a slogan

Censoring:

We (administration) may also choose to delete the personal attack(s) from an offending user's post, and/or the entire post itself, at our discretion. For the purposes of this text, 'administration' is taken to mean any Administrator or Community Host empowered to edit or delete posts.

Although the Administration of P2P does not routinely screen, edit or review messages posted on our forums, they reserve the right to monitor or remove any posting (or part thereof), at any time, without notice.

Moderating and/or Banning Members:

Administration also reserves the right to ban users without benefit of warning, but this drastic option will only be exercised in what we judge to be 'emergency situations.' Only when a user posts material which is obviously highly offensive or disruptive to a majority of other users will this action be considered. We do not take banning lightly.

In reviewing these rules, please note that P2P does not ban users for their views. We only warn and/or ban users based on a demonstrated pattern of unacceptable conduct. From an administrative perspective, we don't care what a user's views are, but if they are unable to present them without intentionally offending other users, their posting privileges will be eventually be revoked. In general, P2P supports the right to free speech, but since this is a privately administrated message board, that right can be superceded by our own right to decide what sort of conduct and content we do and do not find acceptable.

Moderated members – if someone consistently or harshly oversteps the bounds of our code of conduct their user status may change to what we call a “moderated user.” When a person is placed in this status all posts made by that user will be placed in an approval queue for the Administration’s review. If the post is in compliance with this code of conduct the post will be approved and will at that time show on the forum posted, or thread posted to. No thread will show until it has been approved. Users who are placed in this status will have no visible changes to their profile or user name. The members of our forums will not be privy to the specific users placed in this status. We will contact any moderated user and discuss the terms and length of their individual moderation. Moderated users will not have access to private messaging feature.

3 strikes your out - with the exception of the offenses listed below in our Zero Tolerance section, each person will receive 2 warnings if they are found to violate P2P code of conduct, or terms of service, on the 3rd offense, their membership will come under administrative review, and that member may be subject being placed the moderated user status, or in extreme circumstances banned for a given period of time or permanently.

Zero Tolerance offenses – these offenses will subject a member to possible immediate banning: extreme rudeness, extreme disruptiveness, or significantly abusive behavior. Any person or persons who post pornographic material or any material relating to illegal activities of any sort as well as spammers are subject to banning. Any person or persons that register for the sole purpose of harassing or attacking P2P staff or members are subject to banning.

You may not post in a manner that is harmful to Parent-2-Parent. For example, "P2P forums suck go here!" or posting confidential P2P documents. If you do, the post will be deleted and you may be banned.

Self promotion is prohibited. The P2P forums are designed to be a supportive environment. Posters who make posts for the sole purpose of linking to their own content will be issued an official warning from staff which could result in your account becoming moderated or in the case of serious offenses banned.

Safety:

You should be aware that other users might not be who they claim to be. P2P does not perform background checks on any of its users and it does not warrant that any user’s profile contains accurate information. Should you have any questions or concerns about a member please do not hesitate to contact Dawn and Kim at help@parent-2-parent.com.

We strongly caution you against giving out personally identifiable information to anyone when online. Information such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, names, addresses, telephone numbers, name of doctors, children's schools and driver’s license numbers, can potentially all be used for illegal or harmful purposes.

Keep your password a secret. Your password ensures that only you can control your user account.

We respect and safeguard your privacy. We expect that you do the same concerning the privacy of others.

Contrary to popular beliefs, the COC isn't designed to cover everything. We reserve the right to act if a user's actions including the user's posts are deemed counterproductive to the forum community. The code of conduct is in addition to the Terms of Service that you agreed to upon joining (the TOS were edited February 24, 2005 and all existing members are held to the TOS as well as the COC).
