Been letting Mr. Independent try the stairs more on his own. We only have stairs outside - brick. He ran over to my neighbor's house and flirted with her and fell off her steps in her carport. Broke it! I felt so stupid. I know it was a poor judgment call I can't take back, but ack! Shoulda coulda woulda, kwim? Wish I could change it. Ped saw us immediately hoping it was just a dislocated elbow. Aidan melted, so he sent us directly to an orthopedic group who saw us, xrayed and casted. Only took 3 hours from the time he fell until I checked out at the orthopedic (and the ped's office is a good 25 minute drive away), but it felt like an eternity.
Good news? Cast is cute. He is what we call flag happy so they had a patter nwith stars and stripes. Will have to post a pic this week before it gets too nasty. My nerves are shot.

I'm so sorry for you and your little guy. I know what you mean about wishing you could take it back. That's how I felt when Caeley broke her leg, can't I just rewind that and have a do-over? I hope that he heals quickly and enjoys his flag cast.

Poor little guy.....but don't be hard on yourself. Accidents happen sweetie
. We'd love to see a picture of his cast. I've never seen a pattern one.

Thanks, ladies. *sigh* Trying to let it go. Maybe in a few days. LOL
They want the cast on for 2 weeks. Will remove, rexray and decide whether to recast or not then. Couldn't see an actual break, but saw shadowing consistent with a break and bleeding in the area. Doc was great, but tried to point out things on the xray to me. I am a hopeless case - just smile and nod. I think DH is taking him in next time.

Oh, no.
Poor guy. I am sorry he injured himself but know that it isn't your fault. I just know that the wasy Abigail monkeys around and climbs trees, she will have a broken bone soon. I hope he improves quickly and doesn't fuss about the cast too much.

I wanna see his cast!! It sounds totally cool... altho I am very sorry that he has to have one in the first place. Ouchie!!
My mom had this rule while we were growing up.. if there's blood, dad gets to deal with it. Even had it in the school registration forms!! How on earth she managed to survive my brother growing up I'll never know. Hope he's feeling better today.
