Sydneys ENT Update - Parent-2-Parent & Reflux in Children

Well, I guess it went as good as expected. It looks like her right sinus (maxillary) is smaller than normal and appears to have some deformity to it...also her CT showed her adenoids to be "pretty generous" so they will be coming out, she gave us the option of taking out her tonsils, but since they dont absoulty need to come out I would much rather wait. We just got her off the tube in Dec and she's not the best eater and I feel that this would cause her to go to far backwards. So, as it stands Sydney is having her adenoids out, R sinus looked at with the possibility of doing an antrostomie(sp) at the same time they will be doing a bronoscopy and an endoscopy. She has us set up for extended day which is Sydney needs to at least stay 6 hrs and if she is doing well she can go home, if not she can spend the night. I'm suppose to call on Thurs/Friday to get it all set up.

I really hope the adenoids are the cause of her not sleeping well...she is up anywhere from 4-6x a night and will wake up coughing and choking at night. The ENT did say that she did not have a big airway left because of the adenoids.

It sounds like she is going to have a busy day, I hope everything goes well. It is nice that they are able to coordinate everything. I hope that this helps her sleep better. What is an antrostomie?

I tried to find something good on google about it, but did not find anything that really explained it. It is also called FESS sinus surgery...its where they go up into the sinus cavities with the small endoscopic thing and make the holes that are already there bigger so they drain better. Does that make sence?

I will try and find something that better explains it, but I just know how to google and so much comes up.

I hope it all goes well. I know Connor's sleeping improved after he had his adenoids out.

Oh, Rachel, I hope all goes well. I understand your decision to wait on the tonsils- Abigail didn't eat for about a week after, so I can see how this could cause a setback! Keep us posted on how she is doing.
